چکیده

SUMMARY Two Fortran computer programs are described, one for the analysis of longitudinal responses of aircraft, and one for the analysis of lateral responses in the presence of small longitudinal motion. The aerodynamic derivatives which affect the responses are determined by a Newton-Raphson technique to obtain iteratively the best least-squares fit to the observed data. A description is given of the numerical method, and its implementation in the programs, and then separate guides for users are provided for the two programs. An example is shown for each program. Some of the computer output reproduced in this report may not be clearly legible in places. the authors. Procurement Executive Ministry of Defence a Gust Tunnel Fachky a Gust Tunnel Facility

A gust tunnel, which has been under development in the Aeronautical Department of Queen Mary College since 1965, is fully described. Extensive information on the hardware and apparatus associated with the tunnel is followed by an account of its steady and oscillatory flow characteristics. These latter are described for single frequencies as well as at combinations of two frequencies. The genera...

SUMMARY Theoretical analyses are made of the influence of the following features on the longitudinal shear and transverse tensile moduli of unidirectional fibre reinforced composites: (i) random variations in positioning of individual fibres, (ii) overall variations leading to fibre bunching, (iii) overall variations leading to interspersed matrix layers, (iv) localised variations resulting in ...

C.P. No. 1297, PROCUREMENT EXECUTIVE, MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

SUMMARY The variability of fatigue damage from flight to flight is examined for a fleet of aircraft, both within aircraft and between aircraft. A method is described of modifying the standard analysis of variance technique to take account of correlation between consecutive flights and an example is given. It is then shown how to use the estimates of variance so obtained in the derivation of fac...
